CONSTITUTION DAY

Working on the documentary The End of America brought urgency to my belief that we take our freedoms and civic responsibilities for granted. While there is a new administration in power, many of Mr. Bush's policies remain in place -- from wireless wiretapping to non-bid contracts for private military contractors.

Serendipitously, we recently learned of Constitution Day. In 2005 Constitution Day was enacted as an opportunity to both educate and celebrate what it means to be a citizen; all schools which receive public funding are mandated to set aside time to recognize this observance.

It was agreed that this September 17th could provide us with the chance to reach out and support the efforts of educators, students, and activists alike to restore civics to its rightful place in American life.

IndiePix Films and the Progressive Book Club have forged a partnership with the support of a host of publishers, TV networks and shows, nonprofits and thinktanks including the National Constitution Center, the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, Vote 18, Simon & Schuster, think.MTV.com and The Electric Company to celebrate the ratification of our Constitution.
